"I gave away some of my cherished Pokemon cards to the kids at my apartment."
I don't know if this is the appropriate place to say this, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I moved to a new apartment complex and I notice there are always kids playing in the grass outside my patio with dolls. Tonight, I heard one of them say "Pokemon" and I couldn't resist. I approached the mother and asked if she'd mind if I offered them some of the Pokemon items I've acquired over my life. I have an entire binder filled with Pokemon cards and about 10 Pokemon stuffed animals. She agreed to let me show them my collection. It was one of the most rewarding feelings. Do you guys remember how you felt the first time you had a holographic Charizard in your hands? Do you remember the first time you held an Eevee? That's what I felt. The sheer joy of someone experiencing Pokemon. I gave the youngest my stuffed Eevee and I watched her cradle it like a baby. It made me cry. I cried over this. It reminded me of my youth and how much I cherished Pokemon. Eevee was my favorite when I was a kid. My Pokemon binder has "Eevee" written in cute sharpie all over. I remember feeling accomplished because I traded that guy Jared on the bus a Dragonite for his holographic Charizard. I watched those kids experience that childlike magic. It made me miss being young. I remember having my first Pokemon card. I remember playing Pokemon Blue in my neighbors basement when I was 11 and not understanding why there were so many "rock guys in this cave". I remember when I found the power plant completely by accident and thought Zapdos was just a myth.I'm just so happy. I handed out many of my cards to the children and saw their faces light up. "Do you have Vulpix?" "Do you have Nidoran?" I feel like this is the meaning of this game. To share the excitement with the youth. I keep hoping it's a repetitive cycle and I made those kids feel the same way I did when I was 11.Gotta catch 'em all. I hope that mindset extends to the youth experiencing this game for the first time. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2y1AvnD
