"Pinap- or Golden Razzberry, that's the question"
#PokemonGO: tl;dr If you go for the candies at a raid (boss has low CP, bad IV) and it's a legendary boss, only use pinap if you are an excellent thrower and got at least 9 premium balls. Otherwise you got on average more candies if you use a golden razzberry. If it's a Tier 4 Raid or lower (Tyrannitar, Machamp, Golem, ..), you should use a pinap, even if you are a bad thrower without curve and only good throws and only 6 premium balls. On average you get more candies if you pinap! After I see some discussion whether is it better to Pinap or Golden Razz the Raidboss to get more candies I did some math.I used the equation from Gamepress, you can use the Raid-Boss Catchcalculator yourself to check the probabilities. The following Table is based on this values:base_capture_rate = 0,02 (Legendary)CPM = 0,59740001 (Lvl 20 Raidboss)premium ball = 1curveball = 1,7gold medal = 1,3excellent throw = 1,9golden Razz = 2,5Golden Razzberry, 4 Candies (3 for catch and 1 for transfer)Throw% n-st% after n-stØ Candies116,24%16,24%0,65213,60%29,84%1,19311,39%41,23%1,6549,54%50,78%2,0357,99%58,77%2,3566,70%65,47%2,6275,61%71,07%2,8484,70%75,77%3,0393,93%79,71%3,19103,30%83,00%3,32112,76%85,76%3,43122,31%88,07%3,52131,94%90,01%3,60141,62%91,63%3,67without Golden RazzberryPinapberry, 7 Candies (6 for catch and 1 for transfer)Throw% n-st% after n-stØ Candies16,84%6,84%0,4826,37%13,22%0,9335,94%19,16%1,3445,53%24,69%1,7355,15%29,84%2,0964,80%34,64%2,4274,47%39,11%2,7484,17%43,28%3,0393,88%47,16%3,30103,62%50,78%3,55113,37%54,15%3,79123,14%57,28%4,01132,92%60,21%4,21142,72%62,93%4,41As you can see, only if you get more than 8 premium balls you get (on avarage) more candies with a Pinap. If you go for a great throw (multiplier 1,5), than the breakeven is at 10 throws. Only if you get 11 or more premium ball you should use a pineap. If you throw only good, or do not curve, than the breakeven is at 14 balls or above. If possible you should always use a golden razz to get the most candies (on avarage). If it's a Tier 4 Raid or lower (Tyrannitar, Machamp, Golem, ...) and the base_capture_rate is 0,1 than you get the following tables for a bad thrower (no curveball, only good throw - multiplier 1,1):Golden Razzberry, 4 Candies (3 for catch and 1 for transfer)Throw% n-st% after n-stØ Candies126,84%26,84%1,07219,63%46,47%1,86314,37%60,84%2,43410,51%71,35%2,8557,69%79,04%3,1665,63%84,66%3,3974,12%88,78%3,5583,01%91,79%3,6792,20%93,99%3,76101,61%95,61%3,82111,18%96,78%3,87120,86%97,65%3,91130,63%98,28%3,93140,46%98,74%3,95without Golden RazzberryPinapberry, 7 Candies (6 for catch and 1 for transfer)Throw% n-st% after n-stØ Candies111,75%11,75%0,82210,37%22,12%1,5539,15%31,27%2,1948,08%39,35%2,7557,13%46,47%3,2566,29%52,76%3,6975,55%58,31%4,0884,90%63,21%4,4294,32%67,53%4,73103,81%71,35%4,99113,37%74,71%5,23122,97%77,68%5,44132,62%80,31%5,62142,31%82,62%5,78The better throws I do not list because you can see, even without curve and only a good throw you get (on avarage) more candies if you get 6 or more premium balls.Edit:With Tyranitar and Co. you get more candies than 3, so the 1 candy for transfer is not that important. That prefers to use the pinap even moreEdit 2:Tyranitar has a base_capture_rate of 0,05, so you should be a bit better in throwing. The breakpoint is (with the assumed bad throws) at 8 throws, if you throw better you are always on the bright side. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2zBEzww
