"Ultra Beasts and reproduction"

Bit of a bizarre topic, but it's always been a question ever since the accidental Kartana reveal in one of the trailers. It's basically confirmed at this point that UBs are nothing more than extradimensional equivalents to Pokémon, and with the fact that they're incredibly common in their own worlds (Nihilego and Xurkitree notably having multiple of the species visible at the same time and the fact that there is an infinite amount of these things, aside from the gift Poipole, and the two newcomer UBs), there has to be some method of reproduction involved. We do have some kind of hints towards how for a few of them, which may justify why we can't breed them ourselves. While it's incredibly rare to encounter a creature that doesn't lay eggs in Pokémon (The only Pokémon that don't lay eggs but do reproduce are Solgaleo and Lunala, and even regular mons like Ditto, which aren't capable of laying their own eggs probably has something to increase it's numbers). Nihilego, for example, is heavily implied from official artwork of Nihilego and Ultra Deep Sea, to in fact be the mature forms of the small glowing crystal spikes found in said Ultra Deep Sea, in reference to Jellyfish reproduction. In Ultra Forest, the trees are covered in angular flowers with diamond shaped yellow segments, which are noticeably similar to Kartana itself, could likely even be immature forms of Kartana. This would make logical sense as paper does come from trees, however, this seems like a much more literal take. That's all the hints we have towards UB reproduction, but theorising isn't out of the window. In Ultra Crater, there seems to be a network of cable-like growths coming from the ground, and given the first Celesteela you can interract with is buried partially underground, it's more than likely that these cables are spread by Celesteela in much the same way bamboo spreads rootlike stems under the ground in order to reproduce, meaning the one you encounter in Ultra Crater might just be a juvenile. And possibly even more interesting is Pheromosa. Pheromosa's dimension holds no visual clue to how it could potentially breed, but I have two theories. The first one is parthenogenesis, which has been found in a few species of Cockroach, basically the ability to produce offspring without fertilisation, meaning a female can literally clone herself to create babies. On the other hand, some Cockroaches are capable of actually giving live birth, another justification for the apparent lack of eggs.Do you guys have any theories on how these strange creatures could multiply? via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2AmiPHI
