"The Unfortunate Case of Incorrect OSM Tags"

#PokemonGO: I live in the city of Khon Kaen in Thailand, which is a city of decent size (population is about 400k) and a vibrant PoGo community.In the past few months, the biggest pain point of Khon Kaen PoGo community has been nothing but the lack of EX Raid. Many other smaller cities have received their invites, often on multiple waves. Nevertheless, not a single EX Raid has occurred in Khon Kaen despite our having 5 active nests with at least one gym in each of them. We have tried targeting certain gyms in certain nests but to no avail.Then yesterday I found this thread on The Road, and everything became clear;http://ift.tt/2CWtvzi cross-checked the eligibility criteria in that thread with the history of OSM tags using Overpass turbo queries provided by /u/liehon, and found that not a single gym in our city had the correct tags to trigger EX Raid. All nests had tags that would trigger a nest, but not those that would trigger an EX Raid (for example, landuse=farmland). The worst part? There is a gym that's only a few lv20 S2 cells away from an area with a correct tag, but we all know that isn't good enough.So it seems that unless Niantic updates its OSM data, we will never get an EX Raid. It's an unfortunate case, and I can't help but wonder about two things;Why would Niantic leave out some nest tags? Why wouldn't they just make every nest tag eligible for EX Raid? It's handy to make game elements intuitive, and making the connection "gyms in a nest=EX Raid eligible" seems like a very good idea to me. Alas, this is not what Niantic decided.How often should Niantic update its OSM data? I know that Niantic won't just update because we say so, but some OSM data points that it's using are painfully old (particularly nest locations), and obviously, I and my fellow trainers in Khon Kaen would appreciate an update.I hope this doesn't come out as a rant. I just wanted to share our story here because the pain and dismay in my local PoGo community are real and can be felt in the chat room every time a new EX Raid wave happens and we are not a part of it.
