"Here are the forms and method I am using to collect ex data this week. I encourage "trigger" leaders to adopt the same"
#PokemonGO: Hi! Earlier in the week I told you how many were bad at collecting data. Well here is your chance to criticize me! I'm trying this method this week, but I'm very open to suggestions to improve as we go forward. Two sample forms. Here is one that my local trainers will fill out each time they raid:https://goo.gl/forms/gOmoG5sBv0n9VsR72And here is one they will complete when passes go out:https://goo.gl/forms/qfptvB9wMNH8qxQz2To minimize reporting & selection bias I am:1) asking trainers to fill out a form when they raid. I found very poor response rates in my discord from those that didn't get a pass, so it's important to get them to report early2) focusing on gyms where our local discord (or neighboring discords) make up a very large % of the active raiders at targeted gyms3) entering each user on our local discord who successfully submits both forms into a raffle for a play store or itunes gift card (Note, filling out the sample form does not enter you in this drawing)4) attempting to follow up with each user who submits the first survey but not the second. My study this week will focus on the influence of gym badge, # of raids at a specific ex location, and number of unique ex locations hit. When looking at win % by gym badge and number of raids at a location, i will exclude trials from trainers who got a pass at a separate location. I'm still messing with the method I will use to measure the impact of raiding at multiple locations, especially cause this survey doesn't yet account for those who hit additional ex targets outside of the area I am monitoring.Let me be frank. This isn't meant for a Starbucks in NYC. The best use of this method is surburban or rural communities where the ex trigger organizer knows most of the player base. If you are a leader interested in sharing your data for the next ex wave, I am very interested in looking at it (though data from failed triggers won't be useful for this excercise). If you have suggestions for how to improve next week's survey, let's talk below. I'm very open to criticism here. No ego (for once). My only goal is figuring out the best way to exploit the system :)(For reference I am defining a trigger as an organized attempt to get passes from a properly identified ex eligible gym. This could be a first attempt or an attempt on a gym that has previously yielded passes) via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2s5JWUW
