They're just so different.Granted, the basics are still there so it's still Pokémon. And everything that makes it feel so different are improvements so it's funner.But with the anime's changed animation style, plots moving toward focusing on Megas and Z-Moves, and Sun/Moon shaking up the formula on pretty much everything it genuinely feels like Unova marks a turning point in the franchise.Compare to Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy VII, for better or worse, is really just a 3D version of every Final Fantasy game before it. It has all the same annoyances that 1-6 had (and shit like tents).
