"Attention Africa, the Americas, and Europe: Community Day Advice from the Future"

#PokemonGO: Dear all of you living in the past,Community Day is well under way in the future (aka Asia & The Pacific). Thought I'd put together some information and advice based on my experience today to help y'all maximize the funness of your April CD experience. Note: I played in neutral weather (cloudy).First things first, on spawns:Mareep is as ubiquitous as Pikachu, Dratini, and Bulbusaur were on CDs before it.Kanto spawns seem to also be pretty damn common; I'm sure the spawn rate for non-Mareeps was reduced, but the effects are only slightly noticeable. Also: more spawn points. Now, on quests, of which there is one - 'Catch 3 Mareep', with four different rewards:500 stardust2 Ultra balls5 Great balls2 Pinap berriesThey behave just as regular quests do - finish one, and that stop will not give you a new quest. Since CD hasn't ended yet, I'm unable to verify if quests revert to their pre-CD form, or if you can indeed spin a new non-CD quest. I'm hoping you can, because you should be able to finish each Mareep quest within a minute given how common it is.UPDATE ON QUESTS: Post-CD, you do NOT receive a new quest from any Pokestops whose quests you completed during CD.Now, just general observations:1/4 egg hatch distance is fabulous, especially if you keep walking. So keep walking. No evidence that IV/CPs have been tweaked upwards, just regular old RNG.This is anecdotal, but I caught an unusually high number of second-evolutions: a Charmeleon, couple of Haunters, a Golduck, a Graveler, a Machoke, a Tentacruel, and one or two others (they were all Kanto mons). No sign of a Flaaffy or Ampharos in the wild, but maybe other future-dwellers have seen one of these? Please report if so.Non-Kanto regionals do still appear in what seems to be the same pre-CD quantity. Caught 2 Torkoals, a Zangoose, a couple of Volbeat, and one each of Plusle and Minun. Skipped a Corsola. And I caught a random Snubbull.I'm a little apprehensive about using Super Incubators on anything other than 10k eggs. As I mentioned, the eggs hatch fast. Just buy a few regular incubators and you're set, really (I bought two). It's a great time to rid yourself of those insufferable 5k eggs./u/shinypomelo has reported that eggs placed into incubators during the event will have reduced distances even after CD hours are over! (10km egg still at 2.5km to hatch!) - any other APAC players who can confirm this? Some notes on Mareep:So easy to catch. Consequently, and contrary to what you may expect from a CD, this is a great time to stock up on Ultra (and even Great) balls, particularly with the Mareep quest rewards as they are. Don't bother with the Community Day box. Most of the time, you should easily be able to catch Mareep with a combination of Razz berry + Regular ball. Heck, even Pinap + Regular is good enough. It should be easy to land Great throws.I caught five shiny Mareep (including one at home lmao), but didn't count my total catches. I am up from 85 candy to 801 now, and since I'll have about 30m left after making this post, hope to make it up to 900. Zero Mareep fled, and I barely broke an Ultra ball out for any of these catches.Mareep spawns from lures. Bigly. But, to be safe, to obtain Mareep from lures, drop the lures after CD has begun. If there's anything I've missed out, other future-dwellers, please make a note in the comments and I'll add it to this post. In a rush to get back to CD for now! via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2JKuUIM
