"How the 'Use a supereffective Charged Attack in 7 Gym battles' Field Research Task works"
#PokemonGO: Apologies if this is old news, but it was bugging me, and a cursory search didn't reveal any results.WHAT I DID (skip to conclusion if you just want the results)I battled alone during all of the following battles.I took a team of dragon types (with dragon type Charged Attacks) in against a Chansey, completed a charged attack during the battle, and did not receive a count for the research. The following defender was dragon type, and I completed a charged attack and did receive a count for the research. This is expected behaviour of the research task.I then took a team of fighting types (with fighting type charged attacks) in to the same gym. As expected, completing a charge attack against the Chansey counted toward the research. However completing a fighting type charged attack against the Salamence also counted toward the research. This is not expected, since fighting type is weak against flying, and neutral against dragon.Thirdly, I noted a user suggested the charged attacks 'stack up', so that completing e.g. three supereffective charged attacks against a defender would count only one towards the research task, but have two 'in the bank' for the next two battles. I took my fighting team in again against the Chansey but only completed a single charged attack. This obviously counted towards the research. The next opponent was a Flygon (the Salamence was knocked out by now) which fighting is neutral against (ground and dragon) and I didn't complete ANY charged attacks during the battle, (and can't have had any 'in the bank' since I only completed one against the Chansey) and still received a count toward the research task.CONCLUSIONWhen you use a supereffective Charged Attack, this 'flips a switch', and any battle you complete consecutively (without exiting back to the gym lobby) will count towards the research - regardless of type, or even of using any charged attacks at all.If you want to tick this task off quickly, simply make sure your attackers can complete a supereffective charged attack against the first defender; then every battle you complete consecutively will count towards the research task.NOTESI do have video of the battles - if people are super interested I might upload them when I have a chance, but it's pretty easy to replicate if you have the correct field research task. There are other things to check if people have this research task - but since you only get 7 counts, I only got through the above before completing the research. If you die, lose or time-out-of a battle which shouldn't count (e.g. the fighting against dragon type above) after completing a battle which does count, will this still count towards the research?Every battle after the initial dragon-v-chansey counted towards the research - to check if the 'switch' resets when player returns to gym lobby I should have repeated dragon-v-chansey to make sure dragon didn't count against chansey on the 2nd time through. There have been claims of players receiving counts for this research task if a fellow attacker uses a supereffective charge move. To test this, get a 2nd player to join, not attack (or at least not charge attack), and see if they get a count towards their research as well. If yes; does this then 'flip the switch' for them? If they beat the next battle without the 1st player, and without using a supereffective charged attack, will it count towards the research? Will update if I get the same task again and can check any additional items. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2qkZ5O1
