"The recent nearby radar update is a game changer and deserves more praise"
#PokemonGO: Thanks to the new nearby feature that prioritizes shadows, today I was able to spot an unown that was like 10 mins walking distance away in a large city with dense spawns. Before this update, there would be absolutely zero chance for me to even become aware of that unown - in my area, the nearby radar would be constantly flooded by pidgey, rattata, murkrow etc that are much closer by. A radius of 10 min walking distance covers a pretty big area; most of the time, my nearby would be filled with mons that are within 3-4 min walk away.needless to say, I made a run for the unown at inhuman speeds, ultra-golden-razz curveball the thing for good measure, and am now a very happy first-time owner of a B unown. A year ago I experienced the trauma of losing my first seen unown, which insta-fled after one ball; thanks to the nearby tracker, I can finally fill that empty void in my heart I mean pokedex. Now of course, for players who already have everything, the nearby upgrade probably won’t mean much. But for players who still have an incomplete pokedex (especially those who play in cities), this upgrade is a godsend. The ability to single out an uncaught pokemon in a sea of common spawns is game changing. It won’t help you with the day-to-day candy/stardust grind, but it will come through big time during those rare, special moments that really matter, which I am confident will happen to each one of us at some point. To be fair, the nearby radar could still use some improvements, but I feel like the latest change is a big step in the right direction, and deserves more recognition from the community.Lastly, a question: after catching your first unown, would unown of other forms still show up in the radar as shadows? I’m guessing it will probably work the same way as castform, but I completely forgot how that was like. Would greatly appreciate it if someone could remind me how that works. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2JdJx71
