"What do you think about having a Pokemon "Checklist" in each route to help with completing the Pokedex?"

I've had this idea for a while now where in each route you're able to know the total number of available pokemon and the pokemon which you haven't seen or caught. They'd appear as silhouettes in the checklist so that you're not spoiled as to what they are exactly, but would still aid in catching/seeing all the pokemon in that route. The problem I've always had is that I don't know when I'm "done" with a route - I'm not sure if I've seen all there is to be seen, thus causes problems when completing the pokedex as well as the problem where I can't fully be confident that my team is the best that it can be since there might be a potential pokemon I like/want on my team but just missed it. I usually just say "okay after 5 encounters I'm moving on" because I don't wanna waste too much time nor do I want to look up the available pokemon online. This checklist negates the need for those online guides as well as offers something for completionists to be satisfied about. This checklist would either be a pop-up window in the HUD when entering a new route or available in the pokedex, and would consist of sprites of the available pokemon, all of which are initially silhouettes with a ? in the middle like in the pokedex. Just imagine walking into a new route, seeing all those sprites in the top right corner and having your imagination go wild on what those pokemon could potentially be.Ideally, to really top it off, there should be more in game interactions where you can more or less guess what pokemon live here, either by being able to interact with signs put up by locals, nests, trees, or even other trainers that sorta give hints to what lives there. In game tips to help find pokemon that only appear in certain conditions in the form of lore or stories given by locals or experts also help. In fact, if done correctly, that's probably all you need and you no longer need a built-in checklist for the pokedex/HUD.Now, with all that, we'd have a satisfying "catch 'em all" experience where you're completing a list in every route, aided by other trainers, in game help and tips, and the environment, all without having to look anything up online. It becomes more of a hunting game where you use your surroundings and your communication with others to find information and scour the lands for every type of pokemon. The game should really have this emphasis on actually completing the pokedex by making it fun - 'cause really, what exactly in the games push you to look for pokemon? They kinda expect you to run around in the grass/water and just stumble upon every pokemon until your pokedex is filled. There's no game, no challenge, no incentive by the game itself - have it part of the gameplay, have other trainers talk about it, have old people talk to you in their homes about a rare pokemon that dwells in the forest - have the game tell you that "there are more pokemon here that you haven't caught, go find them!"'Tis just an idea, kinda went wild with the whole in game tips/pointers thing. Sorta like how in the Elder Scrolls Series, in Morrowind you can do quests without markers by listening to information given by NPCs, and in the later games all you do is follow quest markers.Thoughts? via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2KBmOle
