"Can we discuss Volcarona's lore? And I would have loved an underwater counterpart with the Abyssal Ruins."
This stuff may have been posted at one considering how its almost a decade since the games came out but I just wanted to discuss because I never noticed until now as I Just replayed Black/White and caught that Level 70 Volcarona.I found it odd, it felt almost like catching a legendary. Volcarona had a low catch rate, like Arcanine it has high base stats and what's more, like Arcanine it isn't a legendary/pseudo or have a hindering ability like Archeops or Slaking and anyone who caught the level 70 one had to go navigate through that maze to find one high leveled Volcarona standing alone with an overworld sprite like many legendary Pokemon.I caught several of the Pokemon in the castle and in the desert including Volacrona and looked at the Dex entries,Volcarona's entry in Black is as follows: When volcanic ash darkened the atmosphere, it is said that Volcarona's fire provided a replacement for the sun.Sigliyph was said to be a guardian of an ancient city and they are said to attack invaders.Yamask were said to be humans at one point. Their evolved form is said to trap grave robbers. One interesting one is Claydol. In Black, its dex entry reads: "An ancient clay figurine that came to life as a Pokémon from exposure to a mysterious ray of light." Not so much a coincidence as Volcarona was said to burn bright enough to be a mini sun of sorts. The rest of the Pokemon are expected because it is an underground/sandy area.Playing White 2 I remembered seeing even more ruins. So it appears that Volcarona at one point was a mini sun to this city, and something happened which caused the city go underground, with the people I assume dying, the dolls they made coming to life and the guardians never forgetting about the city. Now In B2/W2 we go got the Abyssal Ruins. I would have LOVED if we had a water type Pokemon like Volcarona though this Pokemon would be in the Abyssal Ruins. Instead of those Ruins being An ancient tomb that is said to be the resting place of an ancient king, it could an area that had a long drought came over a city, said Pokemon gave water to an area and so they built the temple but eventually it flooded and the city and temple fell underwater. While everyone in the city drowned, said Pokemon survived just like how Volcarona did in the Relic Castle. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2svS1A3
