"Potion scarcity really has me playing the game differently than how I think it's meant to be played."
#PokemonGO: So today, I spent a couple hours walking around a park I haven't been to before with some Lucky Eggs to rake in the EXP from the unvisited Pokestops. In that time, I hit 29 new stops. I gathered:47 Pokeballs16 Great Balls2 Ultra Ball1 Revive1 Max Revive4 Potion2 Super Potion1 Hyper Potion14 Razz Berry3 Pinap Berry4 Banan Berry29 Pokestops/Gyms, 9 total healing items. Enough potions to heal 380 HP.As I was walking around, I came across several gyms that I could have fought -- most with ~6 Pokemon, but all in need of only one or two defeats to clear. I didn't, though, knowing that I probably would barely be able to heal whatever Pokemon I used. I came across a raid I could probably have soloed, but I didn't, knowing that I'd likely lose 4-5 Pokemon in the process and I don't have anything to heal them with.Probably the worst of it: I no longer ever put a Pokemon in a gym that I care about reviving. It's usually just anything in the low 1000s: good enough that it's not a total waste, but not something I'll care about reviving any time soon either. I've been catching Alolan Exeggutors just to put each in a gym, then transfer it after it's fainted.I don't think that's how the game is meant to be played. I get that potions are one of the things they make money on, but 6 Max Revives don't go very far when you could easily lose 6 Pokemon in a day if you're active in the gyms. Buying Max Potions if you're not close to the level cap just seems silly since after reviving, most need <100HP to get to full -- but you can't buy regular or Super Potions. As a result, the whole battle scene just feels like going through the motions rather than trying to actually earn something. I'm gambling on which gyms aren't going to lure attackers for a while instead of trying to leave behind a Pokemon that will actually put up a fight. via /r/pokemongo https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/8ntz38/potion_scarcity_really_has_me_playing_the_game/?utm_source=ifttt
