"Community Day Food Drive"
#PokemonGO: We did something special in the PoGo community I’m a part of and I hope to share that with you.Recently, we saw a post on a local community page about the need for food/hygiene donations at Owasso Community Resources. Then, another thought came up that we have discussed maybe getting together and having a cookout(for the past 2 years and never doing it). So we decided to have a cookout food drive and we timed it with the Squirtle Community Day.Our group of trainers were quick to act and started reaching out to people for help. We had a restaurant, Stonehorse Cafe make us gourmet hot dogs(100+). A bread company donated all of our buns. Our local Vintage Stock donated $25 gift card and Sonic gave 31 coupon cards so we could use them in a raffle drawing for all those who donated. Aldi donated 20lbs ground beef & 30lbs chicken thighs for the cookout, but we donated all of it minus 10lbs of the thighs that we ate.We had 200+ people come through and handful weren’t players. We kept the lures lit in the park during our event and into community day, 11-4pm cst. A mobile gaming company, Tulsa Game Truck donated their services for the majority of the time we were there and let me tell you it was awesome! In the end, it was a huge success. We didn’t expect the results we ended up with. We knew it would be fun, we knew it would do good for our community, but what I just found out today is that we collected 1500 items and the food pantry valued it at $2600!Thanks for taking your time to read this. I hope that we will do more in the future and I hope to see other PoGo communities out there maybe doing something similar. Community Day Food Drive via /r/pokemongo https://ift.tt/2L3XvJu
