"Don’t travel to an event because of the regional/exclusive pokemon, travel to the event for the experience"
#PokemonGO: I see a lot of people complaining that they spent X amount of money traveling to Dortmund only to have one of the exclusive pokemon become available to everyone in Europe. While I do understand that this compensation really doesn’t do you any favor and that it devalues its trade value, I’d also like to stress out that if you spend a high amount of money and taking time out of your time only because of a Corsola and a few Unowns, you are probably at a high risk of getting disappointed.I think that these unusual pokemon spawn should just be seen as an added perk, not the sole reason for your travel. The true intention of these events is, I believe, the experience you get from it. Being around many trainers, talking to new people, getting to play in an area you’ve never been before and to see a new city/part of the world. My suggestion for people going to Go Fest and future events is to not focus your travel entirely on a regional exclusive or a few Unown letters. At some point, those pokemon will become available to everybody else. Instead, go to the event because you want to have a good time traveling with your friends. Go there to explore some of Chicago’s culture (it’s one of the biggest cities in the US, surely there are other things to do there than Pokemon GO). You can do so many other things in the city and experience so many other things while you’re there to make your travel truly enjoyable.Don’t try to focus your entire trip on just Pokemon GO. Sure, the game was a driver for you to go there at this time however plan other activities unrelated to the game so if something bad happens at the event, you won’t feel like your trip was ruined because you’ll have so many other experiences in the city.Pokemon GO is essentially a casual game in my eyes where the focus is more on just being social with each other and meeting new people in far away events. If you’re using the events to optimize trades and whatnot, I’d suggest investing in the main games instead. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2MJLSrr
