"My trip to Europe and the Pokemon Go friends made along the way"

#PokemonGO: About two months ago I went on Pokemongotrades to see if any locals from Croatia/Slovenia wanted to become friends with someone from the US. I had my flights booked to Croatia and Slovenia months prior, so it was just a matter of finding the people who were going to commit to a friendship building exercise. The guys and girls I met through this exchange were an experience of itself. When I'm traveling abroad, more often than not I tend to keep to myself and don't really have a chance to talk to locals. Through Pokemon Go, we had something to bond over and I think that's wonderful. Here are my stories with each:/u/j0hn_b0ris - j0hn_b0ris and his girlfriend showed me around Slovenia. They were both very friendly and I enjoyed spending time with them. It was awesome for the both of us because we both managed to finish our Kanto Pokedex entries with him getting a Tauros and me receiving a Kangaskhan. Not only that, j0hn's girlfriend also traded with my buddy who also no longer needs to travel to Australia to complete her dex. On the first day when I arrived in their city, j0hn showed me around the city and set up pocket wifi for me when I didnt have a SIM card. We shared interesting conversations about culture and travel. I also met his SO and she was kind and friendly as well./u/mcaic - Unfortunately we weren't able to meet when I arrived in Croatia. He was injured and couldnt leave his home. But thank you for all the advice you gave me during my trip! It was very helpful and I tried many of the food you recommended./u/Mustinjoo - Due to mcaic being unavailable, Mustinjoo actually had the chance to trade with me while I was in the city capital. I didn't know you can only trade one special trade per day, so if I had traded with mcaic that night, I probably would've had a lot of apologizing to do. We started building friendship only a week prior to my trip because he messaged me not too long ago. But I was glad I was able to help him out. When we met, it was a cool bonding experience because we had a lot in common. I thought we were going to just trade and part ways but we actually hung out for quite some time. We talked about NBA basketball, travel, and how my trip went. He even bought me a gift for my troubles.Thank you all for being kind and showed me tons of hospitality.
