"[Theory] On stat changes and energy generation."

#PokemonGO: Hi, travelers! You see, I just reread the announcement and a small something occurred to me. The announcement said:Pokémon Defense and Stamina values will be retroactively rebalanced, allowing highly defensive Pokémon to be valuable in battle by outlasting opponents rather than simply running out the clock.I believe the key here is outlasting opponents thanks to defense. That is, defeating them before they defeat you. Right now, even if we ignore the countdown, what really makes you outlast an opponent is your Attack and your HP. Yeah, Defense will help you survive, but HP has the double role of charging the energy bar when receiving damage (just in case Blissey wasn’t overpowered enough). Not only that: having lower defense is often better than high defense, as tanking damage means less energy charge, therefore less DPS.So here’s my theory: Energy charge will not depend on damage received anymore. Instead, you will get more energy the more damage your defense absorbs. A Pokémon with high defense, like Shuckle, will generate more energy per attack received than any other Pokémon. This means that tanks will be more useful in your raiding team: While Glass Cannons would do high damage with both Fast and Charged moves, Stone Walls would charge energy faster, allowing them to perfom more Charged moves even if they are weaker in power. Both roles would rival in overall effectiveness, but each of them in their own singular way. Also, the game has way more Def tanks than HP tanks, so the meta would considerably expand with this.Anyway, it’s just a theory (a Game Theory!), but I can’t wait to see if I got it right. Then all we would need is the Fragile Speedster, and we finally would have the entire Stat Triad! :PMay the RNGods bless you, travelers!EDIT: Oh! By the way, energy for absorbed damage could also mean that dodging would be useful. Two birds with a stone, and all that. After all, the uselessness of dodging is part of our feedback, if they had really listened to it. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2OUWVmt
