"What to Evolve: Ranking the Recently Released Evolutions"

#PokemonGO: I've seen a lot of posts asking which gen 4 evolutions are the best and which ones to evolve first so I thought I would provide my take on the recently released evolutions. I was playing around with poke battler a lot last night and made this tier list based on performance compared to other counters. I looked at level 40 counters with best friends and sorted by time to win since your enemy in raids is the clock. Here's my Tier list based on impact in the raid meta:S tier: roserade, electivireA tier:weavileB tier: rhyperiorC tier: magmortar, togekiss, honchkrowGarbage tier: everything elseGliscor, dusknoir, porygon-z, mismagius were all garbage. Never showed up as a top counter.Magmortar is OK. It shows up a top counter but it's outclassed by moltres, entei, flareon, blast burn charizard, and blast burn typhlosion. And also sometimes outclassed by blaziken. It's not bad persay, it's just not great.Honchkrow was similar to magmortar. Against psychic and ghost types it's usually outclassed by gengar, shadow ball mewtwo and weavile. It sometimes has slightly better damage output than ttar but it has much less bulk so isn't really worth it, especially considering there's other cases where ttar has better damage output. It works as a solid enough budget dark attacker but if you have better options your best off ignoring honchkrow. It also didn't make much headway as a flying type.Togekiss wasn't great. With no fairy fast move and a lower attack stat, it's basically a worse version of gardevoir. Personally, I'll be holding off on evolving one in hopes that it gets a fairy fast move at some pointRhyperior is decent but not amazing as it's the second best in both of its types. If you're lacking smackdown ttars it's a somewhat close second in the rock department. But it's always second to smackdown ttar so there's not much point if you're already set with those. Also there's not much need for rock attackers right now and rampardos will outclass both it and ttar in terms of rock dps. In the ground department it's the second best ground type after groudon but it's hardly inspiring. Against raikou raids it's outclassed by rayquaza and in some cases shadow ball mewtwo which is kinda pathetic considering it has super effective moves and they don't. Of note, rhyperior has a few other moves it can learn that could potentially make it better. So it might be better to hold off on evolving unless you have a need for itNow we come to the mvps of the newly released evolutions: weavile, roserade, and electivire:Weavile has better dps than ttar and projects better ttw in many matchups against psychic and ghost types. The problem is that it that it still has to compete against gengar and shadow ball mewtwo in these cases and pretty much always falls behind. The only time I found it to be a top attacker against a psychic or ghost type was against certain movesets of lugia. Weavile is also currently the best ice type in the game and as such it is the best rayquaza counter. It's also good against zapdos. The problem is that when mamoswine is released mamoswine will be a straight up upgrade over itRoserade now boats the highest grass AND poison dps which makes it really good. The only problem is it lacks bulk which sometimes holds it back. In any case it comes in as the second best granbull counter (after metagross) and one of the top togetic counters (after metagross, electivire, and raikou). In cloudy it becomes the best counter for those two. In sunny, roserade is an absolute beast. In sunny it boasts the best ttw by quite some margin against thunder and hydro pump kyogre. And it's also the top option against solar beam groudon in sunny.Electivire is now our top electric dps option, outclassing raikou. However it lacks some bulk compared to raikou so there are some cases where raikou comes out ahead. For example: Vs kyogre, electivire is the top counter vs blizzard and thunder while it is beaten out by zapdos and raikou vs hydro pump.Something else to consider is the quality of these evolutions current movepools. Based on this comment it looks like roserade, electivire, weavile, and honchkrow all already have their best or close to their best moveset which makes them safe investments whereas rhyperior and togekiss have the potential to get better. For all these reasons I plan on focusing on roserade and electivire. However, weavile would jump to the top of my list if rayquaza returns to raids before mamoswine is released. However, I don't really need any of their evolutions right now so I might just save up sinnoh stones until I have the need to evolve something and then have the opportunity to evolve multiple at once. I find the additional flexibly of saving the stones to have more benefit to me than evolving something right away. For example, if the other gen 4 evolutions also require the stone, having multiple stones ready to evolve mamoswines when rayquaza returns to raids will be extremely helpful. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2Td7kJs
