"A quick look at Feraligatr with Hydro Cannon which we all assume is the next Community Day special move..."

#PokemonGO: Totodile is going to be January's Community Day Pokemon unless Niantic breaks with tradition. It's pretty safe to assume that Hydro Cannon will be the special move. So what does that mean for Feraligatr in the Meta?Fancy ChartPretty good stuff. Feraligatr (205 base Atk) with Hydro Cannon moves into second place behind Kyogre (270 Base Atk) as the #2 DPS Water attacker. Kyogre is still ~4% ahead in DPS and has considerably more bulk, so if you've invested the stardust and candy into a Kyogre you won't regret it. Overall DPS and TDO combined mean Kyogre will reign supreme for Raiding, and that's without the potential for a future signature move boost. If you don't have a Kyogre, Feraligatr will be more than adequate and you should plan on evolving several; 4% isn't a big drop off. Feraligatr should also find a nice niche as the go-to water gym attacker due to Hydro Cannon being a 2-bar charge move. Hydro Pump, the non-Community Day DPS king for water charge moves is 1-bar, and incredibly slow to charge when attacking gyms. In fact, you don't typically even get a hydro pump off unless an enemy is at full motivation if you're attacking with a Kyogre or Gyarados. Feraligatr will be a great counter to rock, ground, and fire types in gyms.In the "Neutral DPS Gym Sweeping" Meta water-type Pokemon don't tend to have the highest Atk stats in PoGo, so Feraligatr isn't going to make the overall DPS charts. Keep your Machamps, Metagross, and Dragons for that. One other area Feraligatr may also have some use is in PvP. We don't know all the specifics of PvP and how it's going to work yet, but if it's anything like the handheld games there will be value to pokemon with unique movesets. In PoGo I expect that will mean that the potential for both water and dark attacks could be useful. Many of the top TDO pokemon being projected by simulators right now are psychic types, which means they'll be weak to Dark attacks. Since Feraligatr is only water type it won't be weak to the natural counters (Fighting, Fairy, Bug) that opponents would normally try to cover if they put a Psychic tank like Lugia on their team.TLDR; With Hydro Cannon Feraligatr is the new #2 water attacker by DPS. Bonus use as a gym sweeper. It may also have some PVP appeal due to a Dark charge move. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2QlQLxf
