"The split in the community over the best generation makes Pokemon so great"

Going strong after 20 years, Pokemon is one of the most immersive and expansive franchises we have today (also the highest worth). Everyone starts Pokemon at different times, and nostalgia could mean Kanto for some or Sinnoh for others.I've noticed that whenever someone brings up or ranks their favorite generation or region of Pokemon, nobody seems to agree on a single answer. Meanwhile in communities like for instance Star Wars, people seem to agree on a basic rank of the movies.Every generation has its pros and cons, but honestly I find it a lot more personal based on how you enjoy Pokemon. My favorite gens were Hoenn and Sinnoh, which get the complaints "too much water" and "too many caves" a lot. But for me, exploration and dungeon crawling are my favorite things to do in Pokemon, and I cherish my memories of diving in Hoenn's water routes or exploring the caves in Mt Coronet.For Johto, the lore and mythology may appeal to some. For Alola, the plot and story may appeal to others. There's little elitism surrounding the games (other than genwunners) and most of us appreciate each and every game. It goes to show how well Pokemon caters to all, and we can have rich and engaging discussions for over two decades.
