"A compilation of shiny rates"
#PokemonGO: Hello dear TSR redditors, with this post I wanted to make a compilation of known shiny rates and at the same time I want to encourage people to keep researching. :)While shiny rates in Pokemon Go have been hypothesized to be species-dependent and not dependent on the method of acquirement (raid, wild, quest), TSR has proven that different shiny rates exist varying per species.Wild encounters: 1 in 450 (source: The Shiny Hunt #1) —> same rate applies when encountered via research or raid (e.g. Magikarp is always 1 in 450)Legendary raid bosses: 1 in 19 (source: The Shiny Hunt #2, TSR Articuno Day)Mawile: 1 in 35 (source: The Shiny Hunt #2)Absol: 1 in 75 (source: The Shiny Hunt #2)Baby pokemon: 1 in 50 (source: The Shiny Hunt #3)Rare quest-featured pokemon a.k.a. Aerodactyl and Pineco: 1 in 60-65 (source: The Shiny Hunt #3, TSR Johto Festival)Special raid-day pokemon a.k.a. Zapdos and Moltres: 1 in 10 (source: TSR Zapdos Day, TSR Moltres Day)Community Day: 1 in 24 (source: December CD)Special December CD outside of 3-hour-window: 1 in 90 (source: December CD)While all of this already gives us a lot of information, there are still many mysteries! The shiny rates of other raid exclusive pokemon like Alolan Raichu and Alolan Maworak are still unknown, same applies for the egg- and raid-only gen 4 pokemon Shinx (though it has been discussed quite often!). And did Gengar have the same boosted raid-day rate as Zapdos and Moltres?Another mystery is the unprecedented boosted shiny rate of Ponyta and Cubone during the Ingress Prime event. While it wasn't as high as a CD rate, it was still higher than the standard 1 in 450 rate. Discussion varied between 1 in 50 and 1 in 200 from what I gathered. As a shiny hunter I really hope that The Silph Road is continuing to research shiny rates. :)And I'd be happy to add shiny rates if I missed something. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://bit.ly/2shGHa0
