"Surprisingly *loved* the Valentine’s event!"

#PokemonGO: Kind of an appreciation post I’ve been wanting to makeUsually these events come and go and get forgotten about in a couple weeks but honestly I found myself enjoying the valentines event way more than I thought I wouldTons of shiny chances, an excellent community day (seriously, I think swinub day was probably the best community day they’ve done. Most stable, actual good amounts of spawns, amazing meta relevant evolution, guaranteed stones for it, etc) that fell during it, great candy yields, I just found myself wanting to play this event as much as possible that on its surface looked pretty standard but ended up being really fleshed out and well done. That and having a really good raid boss during it just made it feel like there was so much variety and things to do the entirety of the event.Seriously, I think the chansey research task was the best one they’ve ever had in this game. Usually during these “pink” events I never see any wild chansey spawn (still didn’t really for this one) but this task not only gave a guaranteed chansey encounter for those who couldn’t find any but also gave a use for all the luvdisc hordes spawning, making them actually useful to hunt and catch instead of just shiny checking and forgetting. I really want to see this again going forward, as they seem to have events based on “bad” common Pokemon that can’t even be shiny and don’t give use to them. The chansey quest imo is a perfect example of what to do with those spawns during these events.This, coupled with the excellent rare candy task let us do double whammies when redeeming the chansey. This made it extremely fun imo to hunt for these tasks and then follow them to completionI don’t shy away from calling niantic on their bs (for love of the game only) but I seriously think they deserve kudos for this one. I went into it not really caring but found myself enjoying it a ton, much better than last years and I think it’s one of the best events they’ve had in ages. Had a ton of fun the last 8 days or whatever.So thanks niantic! Please do more events like this going forward!
