"The anime just explained why ash was able to beat Brock's Onix with a thunderbolt and it's kind of ingenious"
So Pikachu being able to beat brock onix to thunderbolt after it gets sprayed water on is one of the more controversial things that have happened in the show. People always use that as one of the logic for why the anime makes no sense. And while there is truth to that, the latest episode in the show kind of explains why that worked.Essentially, when you get completely drenched why water, it's equivalent to being hit by the move soak. Soak, if you are unaware, is a move that turns Pokemon into a water type once they get hit by it. That's why ash is able to use thunderbolt and hit a ground type. That's why it works. Brilliant.now the next thing they need to explain is how a rhydon was hurt by thunderbolt when it was nowhere near water (I know it's because they aimed for the steel horn but come on) via /r/pokemon http://bit.ly/2NbmBYK
