"[Idea] How Niantic should introduce new PokéBall varieties in future updates."

#PokemonGO: I’ve been a longtime fan of the Pokémon games, and I’ve also been a day 1 Pokémon GO player, so I’d argue that I’m pretty experienced when it comes to Pokémon knowledge.Starting in Pokémon Gold and Silver, GameFreak started adding in a variety of new PokéBalls that you could craft with Apricorns. Since then, Generations 3, 4, and 7 have all introduced new PokéBalls that all have different functions from the standard PokéBall varieties that have been a staple since Gen 1. I thought it’d be nice to theorycraft how Niantic could implement new PokéBalls for future updates.Net/Lure/Dive Balls: These three PokéBalls all have a similar function in the main titles, each having to do with Water-types. The Net Ball increases your capture rate against Water and Bug types, the Lure Ball increases capture rate when fishing, and the Dive Ball increases capture rate when encountering Pokémon when surfing or diving. If introduced to GO, I think only the Net Ball should be introduced, as Fishing and Surfing aren’t featured in GO as of right now, and probably won’t be.Friend/Luxury Balls: Both of these balls increase the amount of friendship between trainer and Pokémon, with the Friend Ball providing a 200 base friendship to the caught Pokémon, while the Luxury Ball doubles the effect of activities that increase friendship. If introduced to GO, I think the Luxury Ball would be the best choice, where any Pokémon caught with it has its buddy candy distance cut in half.Repeat Ball: In the main games, this Ball increases your capture rate against Pokémon you’ve already caught. While one of the most overlooked balls in the series as repeatedly capturing the same Pokémon serves little benefit unless you’re trying to collect all Unown forms, the Repeat Ball would be a godsend for events such as Community Day where catching multiples of the same Pokémon in the short 3 hour period is extremely beneficial, especially for Shiny Hunting.Dusk Ball: This PokéBall increases capture rate when inside a cave or the in-game time is night time. Many players, myself included, do enjoy going out at night to take down gyms or catch any rare spawns that may occur. What better than have a PokéBall suites for the night owls of the GO community?Quick Ball: When used on the first turn of battle, the catch rate is drastically improved. Nothing too fancy here, just use it the moment you encounter a Pokémon to increase your odds of capturing it on the first ball.Beast Ball: In Sun and Moon, players were introduced to a new species of otherworldly “Pokémon” called Ultra Beasts. Standard PokéBalls decreased the chances of capturing an Ultra Beast, hence why the Beast Ball is used for capturing the UBs. As Ultra Beasts have stats comparable to legendaries, I imagine these would replace Premier Balls when capturing Ultra Beasts after a Raid Battle. These were just a few of my ideas, but I’m curious to hear everyone else’s ideas too! via /r/pokemongo http://bit.ly/2VZGzcE
