"So Chicago Go Fest is back in Grant Park. This may actually be a good thing."
#PokemonGO: Hey everyone! I may be in the minority here, but i really think that Grant Park could be an upgrade to Last years Lincoln Park, and im posting this to hopefully ease the minds of the others that attended the first one. So if you're skepticle of the return of Go Fest to Grant Park, just relax and think about these points--Go Fest #1 was in a much smaller area than #2 was, thats for sure. And as awesome as it was to get to spread out and walk Lincoln Park last year, i think that Niantic may not have envisioned it as ever being such a spread out event, and thats why its being moved back to Grant. Grant offers less spread out area, but really, if they manage to get the cell/server stability they lacked back then, they could end up hosting an awesome event like they originally wanted to.-The environment set ups they used in Lincoln Park last year could easily fit into Grant park, offering less walking for more playing. We walked over 13 miles last year across Lincoln park. Excercise is great and all, but there was a lot of FOMO since commiting to go to a different area was such a trek. "Do we stay at the glacial enviornment to try for a shiny Snorunt? Or do we leave for the ? Unowns at the team tents?" Were some of our thoughts at Lincoln Park, and with Grant Parks smaller area we wouldn't have that problem. The lack of the big stage at Lincoln park made it feel like a Zoo walk through. Was it fun? Totally! But it didnt really feel like we were a part of an event like fest #1 made us feel. Theres a good feeling when you're standing in front of the big stage at days end, interacting with the people who played a role in some way. And ending an event with a round of applause and maybe a big surprise is waaaay more memorable than just seeing the spawns dissapear and going home. And speaking of end of the day surprises...This Go Fest may give us the big legendary raid that was planned for the first one, what with the likelyhood of a big stage and projector. Like the Mewtwo raid on the trailer, we may end up getting that special raid for something neat! This event is 4 days this time. So being able to fence in Grant park is a big deal to make sure their stuff stays put overnight. Better security = more neat things in the park. Also, Grant park means that instead of seeing people feverishly rushing to get across 2 miles of park, we'll see a bit more of a relaxed mentality. That means that we can stand to make a few more friends and do battles and stuff if we want to, since we wont be rushing as much. Speaking of battles...PvP is a thing now, which means that with a big announcement stage at grant park, they could actually show the battles if they want to! Or even have a contest! And lastly- Niantic is aware of Fest #1's failure. They literally were sued over it. So to think for a second that they would risk a repeat of that is silly. My feelings are that Fest #2 was a sort of "see, we can do a functioning event this time!" And with that being a reality, i feel that now their wanting to do it BETTER.So to sum up, i think that if the stability is there this time, Go Fest #3 could have a phenominal combination of Go Fest #2's awesome enviornments with Go Fest #1's more intimate setting, and it could end up being the best one yet! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://bit.ly/2D0kLWJ
