"My daughter's adventure (update!)"
So last week I posted about my 8 year old daughter (Rylee) starting her first pokemon game (alpha sapphire). The post got a lot of attention so I decided to give ya'll an update. We had a busy week, but shes had time to play again yesterday and today. First let me answer a common question from last week, her team currently:Combusken, named Sparky. Tentacool (traded from me to her because she liked it and wanted a water type, it's also a similar level to her other pokemon). Graveler (female lol. I'm going to help her evolve it soon, but I dont want to make her OP too early). Her Mightyena named after her German shepherd. A Breloom named Grumpy (evolved from shroomish). And finally an electrike named Ellie (close to evolving).Fairly well rounded team. I did give her some suggestions about typing, although I'm far from the most knowledgable in this gen. She just beat Wattson, too! Mostly shes been doing it all on her own with the occasional question to me.Rylee has not had all pokemon knocked yet, but she came close today. I was doing my own thing and she came running into the room saying "daddy daddy he got Sparky!" All in a panic. I ask if I can see. She has 3 of her mons knocked and the opponent is a marshtomp. I knew this meant she was battling her rival on the way to Mauville. He also still has one mon left besides marshtomp, idk what it is. Her pokemon left are poochyena (not evolved yet, I think was level 15 or 16), a skitty (level 12), and zigzagoon (level 9). I tell her straight up it doesnt look good but we can try our best. I tell her she should pick skitty and use sing, she nervously listens. Then I tell her to swap out to poochyena and bite away. By pure luck marshtomp stayed asleep and we got the KO. Next one up is slugma, so I tell her to use the same strategy. Shes still nervous but sends out skitty who gets the sing off. Back to poochyena and slugma wakes up after one bite. Not much to be done about it but try for another lucky sing with skitty. Nope, slugma one shots the poor thing. I tell her to just to try to fight it out with poochyena. Doggo got slugma to the red before getting knocked. All that's left is her zigzagoon (she had it in party instead of shroomish because she was cutting trees). Doesnt look good. I say all you can do is try to get a cut in. Slugma doesnt use an attack move right off, zigzagoon got the cut and KO. Battle won. Rylee was real proud of herself and remarked about listening to my advice to save often, admitting she hadn't saved for a long time. So, its going good. Looks to me like shes gonna stick with it. She still gets excited when catching new pokemon, which is the coolest part to me. The battling she has fun with, but her real passion in the game is collecting new pokemon.Hope you all enjoy this quick update! I'll be back when I have a new fun story about Rylee's pokemon adventure. via /r/pokemon http://bit.ly/2LnyM7y
