"Never been to a PvP tournament? Give it a try this month!"

#PokemonGO: Hey guys! A large portion of the playerbase has never gotten into PvP, which is understandable because Niantic hasn't really pushed anyone into it. The folks over at /r/TheSilphArena built a tournament structure from the ground up that has been running tournaments (mostly) smoothly since January. It's a lot of fun, and as someone who was never into the PvP scene in the main-series Pokemon games, I can vouch for it being fantastic! Each month there is a new Cup theme with various types that are allowed. For the month of May, that theme is the Nightmare Cup. That means that you are allowed to use Pokemon that have at least one of the typings Psychic, Dark, and Fighting. Dual typings are allowed as long as at least one of them are one of those three. You bring a team of six Pokemon ready for the Great League (<1500 CP) and you are matched up against opponents. In each round you see each others' team of six, and do a best-of-three where you can pick a team of three out of your six for each battle. These tournaments can be hosted through silph.gg by your local Discord's admins, and might have been being hosted all year! If you're not too sure, there is a Local Tournament Map that you can use to see if there are any tournaments that have been planned near you soon! It should be noted that not everyone creates a tournament page this early in the month and so won't show on the map, but it's a good place to start! Ask your local Pokemon Go group if they are running any tournaments. If you have any more questions on top of that or want to understand more about the Nightmare Cup, just ask and I'll do my best to answer!Note: I'm not affiliated with the Silph team and am just someone who wants to get as many people into PvP as possible! via /r/pokemongo https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/bjt63w/never_been_to_a_pvp_tournament_give_it_a_try_this/?utm_source=ifttt
