"I find Salazzle’s and Toxapex’s ability choices kinda weird."
From a design standpoint and a competitive standpoint, I feel like Corrosive and Merciless should have been on the opposite Pokémon.Salazzle would do well as a fast special sweeper or cleaner if she had Merciless and there were toxic spikes set up or if she just happened to poison with sludge bomb/wave. It would also make sense that the Pokémon that controls their own gangs would have an ability to reflect it merciless nature and tendencies. On the flip side, Toxapex would benefit from having Corrosive as an ability, since it’s a poison type wall that has the signature move Baneful Bunker, which the whole move’s gimmick is that it’s poison spiky shield. This would give it a niche of being able to toxic and wall steel types of all things. The way the crown-of-thorns starfish eats coral is by extruding it’s stomach out of its mouth and breaking it down with corrosive enzymes. Toxapex literally does the same thing to Corsola. This might have been thought about before or mentioned somewhere but I didn’t see it and it bothers me that the abilities fit so well on the opposite Pokémon than they do on the Pokémon that actually have the abilities. What do you guys think? via /r/pokemon http://bit.ly/315PWKO
