"Newish Player Here - Need Some Direction"

#PokemonGO: Kind of new. About to ding level 24 today. I've been doing a LOT of googling for which Pokemon to get for End game, How IV works, Calculators for IV, etc.I found this graphic recently that seems to point towards which pokemon + moves to get: https://i.redd.it/2k79mo7r5h331.jpgMy question to everyone out there is. I have read to go for IV first and foremost. (Really any IV >> 80% is good.) I've been basing this so far around Pokemon I LIKE. I mainly am into Gen 1, but not against other Generation Pokemon. To this point, I've gotten the following Pokemon I've been working on 80% IV +:92% Snorlax for Gem Defending90ish% Ivysaur90ish% CharizardI have a bunch of other different type pokemon with good IV (Armaldo from the event, and others) around to assist with attacking. My grand question is, am I wasting my time early on getting Pokemon I want with the intent to Min Max as I can? I.E. I've been looking at that chart and trying to find high IV Pokemon + the correct moves to use long term.Is this a bad play? Just trying to get some direction here as I want to be able to solo raid 2-3 bosses as I can as I'm the only real Team Red in my area, and raiding seems very dead around here. Some firmer direction would be useful as I've read a lot of varying opinions all over the internet. via /r/pokemongo http://bit.ly/2WVaWFB
