"The Game of Charge TMs"

#PokemonGO: I know this is a topic that's often brought up on this sub but theres a reason for it and I'd like to contribute on the issue: the move pool of Pokémon is still continuously increasing and Niantic seems to be changing the stats of them every now and then but then doing nothing about TMs. I'd like to note that Charge TMs aren't usually a problem for hardcore raiders as they're not so often needed in PvE and the main source for CTMs is from T5 raids. But please listen out anyways even if you don't PvP. This issue will not disappear until Niantic does something about it and it's hurting the game for us all by turning PvPers off of the game. This post is meant to draw attention and to compile the issue into one so feel free to add to it.With the increasing popularity of PvP and the potentiality of it becoming an esport the issue is becoming more and more acute: the idea that CTMs are incredibly rare and special items are not on par with the game anymore. There's new Silph cups and tournaments every month that require different Pokémon with usually two charge moves. This means you're often burning through your CTMs faster than what you're getting them with the drop rates now. CTMs are also incredibly rare compared to Fast TMs when usually you need only one FTM to get the desired move. The bottle neck used to be stardust but now I have many pokemon powered up waiting that I get a CTM for them. In PvP the moves matter a lot and in different cup the same Pokémon might be useful again with a different move set. This has led to trainers getting several of the same Pokémon with different move sets or trainers evolving dozen Pokémon in hopes to get one with proper move set in fear of going to have to use TMs. Their value has gone totally out of balance.First issue is the lottery mechanics: Yes, we weren't able to TM moves before at all but that doesn't mean we could further improve the system. Hear me out. The biggest problem is that there is no guarantee our Pokémon can learn a certain move. Ever. You can actually spend a years worth of CTMs on one Pokémon and end up not getting the desired move. Does it make any sense? Does it give you a feeling of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different moves? Is this good for the future of PvP when your luck with TMs might determine more than your skills? People are skipping tournaments just because they don't have enough TMs.Then there is another loot box lottery for actually getting them. Then there's the availability of raids and the fact that TMs are dropping mainly from T5s. This means that if you don't have a raid group, play rural or even are in a minority team you will be able to get much less TMs than others. For PvPers the legendary bosses rarely have any use either so you're using your daily pass only in hope of TMs even though you'd want to raid those Pokémon that are actually useful in PvP like Mawile or A-Raichu to be able to trade them for better pvp-IVs.IMO the mechanics must be changed into letting us choose the move or cycling through all the moves and changing where and how often CTMs drop. Battling with other players should have higher drop rate so those who need more of them would actually be able to get them. And different raids should have more equal drop rates. To those that say Niantic doesn't care because it's a source of income: It's not a really good source of income to have this kind of lottery mechanic and then making another lottery out of actually using the first lottery price. It could even be against some local laws. Niantic is losing players because it's not fun. It's increasingly frustrating. T5 raids aren't good source of income either in areas where you can't raid them. The drop rates are so small that it doesn't really make sense to use money to solo raids in hope of CTMs. Many PvPers would rather spend their coins straight on TMs rather than being forced to buy raid passes as lottery tickets. For reference here's the drop rates for CTMs from raidsTl;Dr: The game is increasingly revolving around CTMs that have become a P2W double lottery and it is making playing the game increasingly frustrating. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/35gMn6x
