"A Colossal Failure (Review From Playing 5 Hours)"
#PokemonGO: Just got back from playing 5 hours straight in the Melbourne CBD and my god I wish had stayed home today and spent the A$12.99 towards something actually useful because this Colossal event surely wasn't.First of all the actual "Special Research" was the easiest I have ever done (except for Transfer 3 Pokemon).I had Regigigas in the dex by 11:30 and was hoping to spend the remaining time shiny hunting the boosted Pokemon with boosted shiny rates, hatch interesting and rare Pokemon you know the normal stuff that every other paid event by Niantic. But there was none of the above, after five hours of Shiny Hunting here are my results...0/25 for Regi Raids0/106 for Field Research (90% being Skarmory)0/305 for Wild Checks (mostly Magnemite, Geodude and Aron)0/35 for EggsThere were plenty of field research tasks and plenty of raids but by golly there certainly wasn't a boosted shiny rate for anything. In fact apart from the field research everything was exactly the same for event players.I bumped into several other groups that I am friendly with and they were reporting the same. Two groups of six had encountered around 400 field research tasks combined and over 100 Regi raids for 0 SHINIES. It's like that Niantic completely forgot to turn it on.So essentially I paid A$12.99 to get a pretty useless Pokemon in Regigigas a few weeks before everyone else will have an opportunity, great thanks Niantic.I honestly don't know what Niantic was thinking with this event. If I had to sum it up with one would it be APPALLING.There was so much potential for an event like this. Giving people a similar experience to Safari Zone/GO Fest who can't' travel to the handful of countries that actually get them. Oh and how about actually making the special research interesting and somewhat difficult? All the research and rewards were just insulting to players. I mean who doesn't have a Lapras or Tyranitar? Shiny Lapras has been in field research and had its own RAID DAY for crying out loud, 99% of the target audience already has a Shiny Lapras (not that it's a guarantee for this event). It really does feel like a money grabbing event that likes of EA or Bethesda would pull. The event cost A$12.99 in Australia and here you can buy 100 coins for A$0.99, I really wish I had put that money towards raid passes or an Ultra Box.My advice would be if you are in an area where this hasn't started... AVOID IT ALL COSTEDIT: BEFORE ANYMORE COMMENTS REGARDING THE EVENT IS TECHNICALLY AS ADVERTISED, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT BOOSTED SHINIES/OTHER EGGS/SPAWNS, ETC, ETC AREN'T ADVERTISED FOR SAFARI ZONE & GO FEST. THIS IS A PAID EVENT JUST LIKE SAFARI ZONES/GO FESTS SO BOOSTED SPAWNS/SHINY RATE WAS EXPECTED. via /r/pokemongo https://ift.tt/2qdQW1g
