"I love Pokemon Sword and Shield, but I think these games may be a bit too difficult"
Hey everyone, I just downloaded my copy of Pokemon Sword yesterday and I gotta say, I was having an absolute blast! As soon as I booted the game up, I was blown away by the quality of the animations, and it became clear to me why Gamefreak needed to remove half the dex to make room for these absolutely jaw-dropping visuals. Once I finally got that view of the beautiful Galarian countryside, I knew that I would not rest until I had completed my gym challenge, risen to the top of the Pokemon league and caught them all*.But there's one problem. The first section of the game went off without a hitch for the most part, but at one point I encountered a character that, among other things, mentioned to me that the champion of the Galar region was undefeated, and may or may not have possessed a Charizard. I thought this to be strange, but didn't pay it much mind and continued through the tutorial, chalking it up to some translation error or perhaps a glitch in the game's code. However, as I progressed through the game I could tell something was wrong, as more and more characters seemed to mention this undefeated champion and his Charizard. I began to worry, maybe the Japanese name for Charizard was similar to the name for Maractus? Was it possible that the Japanese used the word "undefeated" as slang for "kind and generous"? My mind raced looking for a way to make sense of what I had read, desperately searching for some way to rule out the unthinkable. And then I saw him. My heart sank.Leon, flaming orange Charizard by his side, proudly proclaimed himself to be undefeated, with hordes of frenzied onlookers echoing his sentiment. I couldn't believe it. How was I supposed to accomplish my goal of becoming Galar champion if the current holder of the title was undefeated? My dreams crumbled before my very eyes as Leon struck his signature "Undefeated Charizard" pose.Acting on instinct, I quickly turned my switch off. "This must be a glitch, right?" I said to myself out loud, "It has to be, I'll just reset the game and everything will be fine."No use. Upon rebooting the game, Leon delivered his famous undefeated Charizard speech once more. Desperate for a way out, I reset once again, but the outcome was the same. Charizard. Reset. Undefeated. Reset. Charizard. Reset. Undefeated. Reset. Tears began to stream down my face."Hey, have you met my undefeated, Charizard-owning brother?" asked Galarian Hau, "He's undefeated, which, by extension, makes Charizard (the one that he owns) undefeated too!". My in-game avatar looked on at Galarian Hau with a blank, glassy expression as I cried out in anguish. Years of preparation for my journey to become champion for the first time ever on Nintendo Switch, and they were dashed in an instant by an undefeated, Charizard-owning champion.I threw my switch against the wall of my bedroom and buried my face in my pillow, sobbing and mourning a long-awaited dream that would never come to fruition.Anyway, has anyone else encountered this issue? I'd like to complete the game, but this whole undefeated champion with a Charizard thing has me pretty discouraged. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2OxE8vd
