"Evolving Riolu - is the case to wait entirely based on FOMO?"
#PokemonGO: To evolve or not to evolve, that is the question. And one largely answered now with the advent of Community Days - wait.Riolu is an interesting case. Lucario has what is regarded as a quasi-signature move (Aura Sphere), although it's not exclusive to Lucario. This move was added to the game data in an October update.Niantic could introduce the move by adding it to Lucario's normal movepool; make it learn the move only through some exclusive event; or just simply not introduce it (by way of comparison, signature moves for Kyogre and Groudon were added to the code absolutely ages ago but are still nowhere to be seen, even after multiple re-releases).If they introduce the move through an exclusive event, what are the options (based on previous experience):Community Day: Seems highly unlikely - Riolu is a baby and the shiny will be a sure-fire money maker as a highly, highly sought after egg exclusiveRaid Day: Every raid day to date has been based around shiny availability. Possible that the Gengar raid day could be the template with shiny Lucario in raids and shiny Riolu as an egg exclusive. The exclusive move could introduced as an exclusive for raids and evos during that time period (as was the case with Gengar)Anything else? Barring something new and unforeseen (egg based Community Day anyone?) it's hard to see what other possibilities exist. And if there is a raid day, when? So far the only examples to date are Gengar (to coincide with Halloween last year) and Lapras in May. We nearly had another with the Alolan Marowak event that never was.It seems highly likely that a raid day would coincide with or only happen after Riolu is released as a shiny in eggs. Interestingly, all of the babies up to Gen 3 are available as shinies, and two of the Gen 4 babies (Budew and Bonsly) are already available...So, what conclusion can we draw from this? Honestly, nothing firm - no one except Niantic know for sure. There are credible arguments for and against waiting. With Lucario one of the most useful Pokémon in Rocket Battles right now I'm going to evolve mine with no regrets. That is, until Niantic inevitably announce a Lucario event the following day ;) via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/380vlej
