"Graphics don't make Pokemon more fun to such a degree that I would prefer Gen 4/5 style games with more to them"

I'm not going to lie, and I'm sure you'll agree, better graphics are nice. Obviously. But when they're used as an excuse to cut content... I can't help but think of them as a bad thing. Honestly the content in Pokemon HGSS or B2W2 makes them far more enjoyable than recent pokemon games. Not to say they looked bad, to be sure they looked great for what they were. Honestly I've enjoyed some GBA rom hacks and fan games as much or more than recent games. That's a 60$ price tag vs. a free game developed usually by just a few individuals in their free time. Pokemon Light Platinum isn't the best looking ever but it clearly has so much effort and passion in it. Seriously, look how nice some of even the shorter cutscenes are.I just think it'd be nice if Gamefreak would actually spend time on their games. If they really need that yearly release, then it'd be cool if they did something in the style of Gen 4/5. Some modern releases like Octopath Traveler have had great success with such a style, it looks beautiful, really. I doubt Gamefreak would be willing, as it doesn't appeal as much to a mainstream audience anymore, but anything is better than incomplete games for twice the price of previous ones. Having every pokemon in a main series Pokemon game should be a must.I miss things like overworld events and intractable legendary pokemon. We'll likely never get event Pokemon like Darkrai or Victini who have more to their event than just receiving a gift from some guy ever again. Gamefreak has gotten so lazy as to emit any complex content that might not be seen on the first play through of the average player. As a completionist that hurts a lot. My favorite things were all the little hidden nooks and crannies of Pokemon games like the Nature Preserve in B2W2, Red, the Hoenn and Kanto starter events, the Kanto stuffm and Kyogre/Groundon and Rayquaza in HGSS, using Pokemon Ranger to get Manaphy in DPPt, the tons of hidden legendaries with their own little stories and overworld events in B2W2, the unique battle brains in the battle frontier, ect. I miss little things like the Vs. Recorder.Every game since XY have had less and less of this kind of stuff. With an exception of ORAS, but those were remakes, they already had a game engine and a game to go off of. The coolest thing we've had since then was Mega Evolutions. That was Gen 6's big leap, like items for gen 2, abilities for gen 3, special/physical split for gen 4, hidden abilities and infinite use tms in gen 5. But now that's gone even.I don't know what we can do as fans to fix dexit and make the directors in TPC/Gamefreak/Nintendo less money hungry and more passionate about their games. But we need to do something if we don't want the series to continue downhill. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/34FN0Wn
