"What's the deal with "Rotom technology"?"

Whose idea was it, both in-universe and at Game Freak, to stuff a bunch of Ghost Pokemon into technology that is produced and sold en masse? You and presumably countless other people have phones with a Rotom in them. You later get a bicycle with a Rotom in it. And there is even more "Rotom technology" that you can see. What purpose does this serve? How does having a Ghost Pokemon inside this stuff enhance it? Aren't Ghost-type Pokemon known to be pranksters? And are the Rotoms okay with being shoved inside random technology and sold in stores?Another thing that bothers me is that you can't use the Rotoms in battle. Your phone/Pokedex and your bike both have a Rotom in them, but for some reason you can't battle with either of these Rotoms. They aren't even logged in the Pokedex. All Pokemon love to battle, show their strength, and grow stronger, so why can't these Rotoms be used for something besides powering our stuff? And another thing, for whatever reason, the Rotom Pokedex in Sun and Moon COULD SPEAK. Why are Rotoms being used to enhance commercial technology rather than breaking down the barrier between humans and Pokemon? All Pokemon have their own language that they can use to communicate with any other Pokemon regardless of species, and they also perfectly understand human speech, the only problem is that they can't speak the human language themselves. If putting a Rotom inside a certain piece of technology allows it to speak our language, why isn't anyone trying to use that to try to find a way to let other Pokemon speak, either by having a Rotom act as a translator, or by trying to invent another device to allow other Pokemon to speak our language? It also bugs me that it seems like people can "own" Rotom technology. In other cases, people and their Pokemon are explicitly and consistently described as "partners", but with Rotom technology, I get a distinct sense of "ownership" when it comes to them. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2sQxgln
