"An open letter to the Pokémon Fandom."
About a year and a half ago my little girl, then about 7 years old, was given a Pokéball plushie as a prize in a cosplay competition. On the way home she was so excited to have received Whatever it was.'That's a Pokéball from Pokémon.''What's Pokémon?'That plushie started her obsession. Since then, everything is Pokémon. Her room is full of different plushies, has all sorts of great art from the fandom on her walls, she has watched every episode and seen most of the movies. The whole family has been to comic conventions dressed as Pokémon. She has played several of the video games, read heaps of the books (this includes us reading the pokedex to her at bedtime). Now she collects the cards. One constant thread through all of this has been her interactions with positive, supportive members of the Pokémon community. She has been encouraged in her cosplay by adults and kids alike, she has been given individual cards and decks, she has had battles on the Switch with people of all age groups and has participated and many events alongside all kinds of people: men, women, kids, people with special needs... Everyone in the Fandom has helped her along. Now she has more experience she is passing all of that goodwill forward and will give other newbies cool card sleeves, GX versions of their favorite Pokémon and most importantly of all her time and enthusiasm. So thank you all very much for being part of such a fantastic, welcoming, supportive community. As a parent, this is it, this is where words start to fail... Thank you.The TL;DR here is that you're all wonderful. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/39V5Gne
