"My first Pokemon game! Any advice?"

Hey everyone! So yesterday I bought Pokemon Shield and I’m obsessed! This is my first Pokemon game and I’m really annoyed I hadn’t tried it sooner (I was banned from it as a kid because my Mum thought it was a game about demons 🤦🏻‍♀️😂). As this is my first game I am sooo lost hahah, so I have a few questions!Do I need to fight every Pokemon I see in the tall grass? (I noticed that new ones keep respawning...) What types of Pokemon should I have in my party?
