"Pokemon Main Series Games Lost Some of Their Charm When They Stopped Making Unique Cartridges and Box Arts."

https://ift.tt/3my66Y5 (OC picture for comparison, picture doesn’t even do justice to Leafgreen)Unpopular Opinion: I think it’s sad that Pokemon cartridges are no longer of special colors with holographic labels and that boxes don’t even have special holographic designs anymore. I remember when going to the store back in 2004, there were all these shining boxes (the Emerald one was out of this world) and beautiful cartridges of different colors with beautiful labels. From Pokemon Gold and Silver to Pokemon Emerald, the box arts were at their best and the cartridges also looked beautiful, peaking at Pokemon Emerald. However, when Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were released on the Nintendo DS it started to drop. The box were still beautiful, which was still something great considering the cartridges format had changed, but the cartridges themselves no longer had a very particular color nor sticker. From Pokemon B/W and up the boxes were just as plain as the cartridges.I just think it’s sad because that made the games look so much more unique than other Nintendo games and it made for beautiful collections. I would have liked at least a reference to that with red and blue cartridges for Pokemon OR/AS. Now that Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes are probably coming soon I just think it’s sad that I am going to have to look, yet again, at one of my favorite box arts get a plain look. Don’t get me wrong, the art is still cool and the boxes look great, I just think at least a subtle holographic design and maybe even special cartridges would have made me want to keep collectioning Pokemon games. Now I wonder if it’s just because they want us to purchase the games on the eshop as they get more money...TL;DR Pokemon games no longer have unique cartridges and box arts which makes me just a little bit sad, especially when I see my favorite games getting remakes with covers worse than the original ones. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2H9M7hW
