"Pokemon Gimmick Idea for Gen 9- Super Types"

So I was scouring reddit on what people think of for fusion as a mechanic. I made my own post about this not to long ago and it seems like it was not really in favor or would be complicated. I don't remember the name but I saw a comment talking about the idea of super types. I didn't read the full line and I haven't been able to find it since, but it got me thinking that having some new battle feature focusing on a Pokemon's type could be interesting. If the original redditor ever reads this, then this is credited to you.So here is how I would do it.A pokemon would hold a special item such as a Super Talisman that would activate their Super Type Form. The Super Talisman would only be compatible for pokemon that share a type with it it (Bisharp for example can only hold a Dark or Steel Type Talisman). Super Talismans function like z crystals in that their are one for each type. The Super Type Form- a state where the Talisman that they are holding when activated that would create an aura (similar to the totem aura but bigger and in the color of the specific type of Talisman) that would transform a mon into their upgraded type form. A Pokemon in this form would become a mono type based on what talisman they are holing and their upgraded form includes a name change for each type.Water becomes the Ocean typeFire becomes the Inferno typeGrass becomes the Forest typeBug becomes the Predator typeRock becomes the Diamond typeGround becomes the Earth typePsychic becomes the Cosmic typeDark becomes the Wicked typeFairy becomes the Magic typeSteel becomes the Platinum typeNormal becomes the Natural typeElectric becomes the Storm typeFlying becomes the Sky typeGhost becomes the Spirit typeFighting becomes the Warrior typePoison becomes the Toxic typeDragon becomes the Wyvern typeIce becomes the Winter typeSo if a Abomasnow were to hold the Winter Talisman- when activated they would become a pure Winter type and loose its grass type. What are the benefits to the Super Type Form- a few-Increase power of STAB moves-STAB moves become upgraded versions of their selves similar to what Dynamax does-Super-effective hits do more damage-STAB moves bypass resistances of opposing Pokemon (so if a Normal/Natural type hits a steel type with a STAB move, the steel type would not resist the damage and take it in full) unless the type is immune to it (a Electic/Storm type attack could not affect a ground type).-Decreases damage received from super effective hits (think a default Solid Rock, and yes they would stack if the mon has the Solid Rock ability)-Decreases damage received from moves that type would already resist-Allows Pokemon with bad type combinations or are hampered by their type (Ice) the ability to stand out and gain less weakness (thinking of you Abomasnow).Allows any Pokemon to achieve this form so long as they are holding a talisman correlating to one of their types.Downsides-no stat buff, only thing that changes is the type and the benefits that come with it-Certain Pokemon can loose a valuable type combination and loose extra STAB, resistances, and potentially gain more weaknesses (Spiritomb, Sableye). What do you think? via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2NmW4f0
