"Alola Has a Better Design Than I Realized"
So I got back yesterday from a two week vacation to Hawaii and one of the things that really struck me as we traveled was how well Alola had been designed. I traveled through 3 of the main islands, O’ahu, Kauai, and Maui (which line up to Melemele, Poni, and Akala respectively), and each one felt really similar to the games. In the games, each island has a fairly unique vibe, with the range of locales, geography, and colors varying widely. I thought, back when I played the games, that GF was making things more different than reality to make the game feel more varied. Now that I’ve experience Hawaii, however, I can honestly say that traveling the islands felt the same, with a huge variety of sights, feels, and colors across the islands. Alola really nailed that feeling of a largely rural Polynesian island chain, yet one that feels super culturally connected.I was looking up to see which island was supposed to be which, and I stumbled upon a Bulbapedia page of Pokémon location connections to the real world, and the list for Alola is huge (certainly longer than the other regions), it’s obvious GF put in lots of effort to make the region accurate, and it really shows. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2Pe0arg
