"Lesser used Sinnoh regional dex 'mons to try out"

It's no secret that Sinnoh (specifically Diamond/Pearl) sees some of the most formulaic team building of all the regions, thanks in no small part to Diamond/Pearl's puny regional 'dex and poor type distribution. Thus, the same teams keep cropping up. Well, I figure to give some suggestions for lesser seen 'mons that you should use the next time Sinnoh is in your DS, or when it's on your Switch I guess.HippowdonHippowdon is great. It is a physical tank by every stretch of the imagination. Fantastic physical bulk and a solid attack stat make Hippowdon not just tough to KO for physical attackers, but potentially dangerous to go up against. It's not much of a quest to get one either.DrapionA Great Marsh acquisition, Drapion is a Pokemon that is just solid all around. Decent attacking prowess, solid physical bulk, a fantastic typing on offense and defense, plus it is moderately fast. Just a good Pokemon through and through.SkuntankJupiter will show you the power of Skuntank. It isn't as good as Drapion, and it is a Diamond exclusive, but Skuntank is a decent Pokemon. It's got the same great typing, decent attacking power, decent bulk, and moderate speed.ToxicroakSinnoh brings another solid Poison type to the table, this time one that can turn the odds against Steel types. Toxicroak can get Dry Skin to give you a Water immune Pokemon that plays very differently than most water immune Pokemon. With good attacking power and funky defensive utility, Toxicroak can prove to be quite a pest to your opponent.Mismagius/HonchkrowVersion exclusives here, but both of these are rock solid Pokemon in their own right. Mismagius has good offensive potential with its special attack and speed, and it has a good attacking movepool to boot. It plays like a mini-Gengar with its three immunities. Meanwhile, Honchkrow can hit brutally hard with Super Luck boosted Night Slashes and/or bypass its meager speed with a vicious sucker Punch.BronzongI almost never see people using Bronzong, and it is a shame, since it is a darn good Pokemon. It has great mixed defenses and an awesome defensive typing + ability that leaves it with few weaknesses. Bronzong is brutally slow, but that is the secret to its success, for it unlocks the offensive potential of Gyro Ball, capable of hitting fast Pokemon with amazing power. Hell, you can even have Bronzong hold a speed lowering item like the Macho Brace to make Gyro Ball hit even harder!Kadabra/AlakazamThe dreaded trade evolution, but even if you can't get it to Alakazam, you might still want to consider the spoon-bender. These two have great special attacking power and great speed stats to boot, making them offensive menaces. An added perk is that there is an in-game trade in Oreburgh City with a Machop, so you can get a trade boosted Abra, and in Diamond/Pearl (not sure about Platinum), this trade boosted Abra has both a special attack increasing nature and a good special attack IV, making it even more of a harder hitter. If you do have access to trade, you'll have a trade boosted Alakazam very quickly into the game that can make mincemeat of the opposition.Haunter/GengarMuch the same story for Haunter/Genar, they are offensive monsters that you can get a trade boosted version of. These two have even better coverage and surprisingly good defensive utility thanks to three immunities (would be two in gen 8) and two 4x resistances giving them plenty of opportunities to switch in.MedichamIf brute power is your thing, Medicham is for you. Pure Power turns Medicham from an otherwise utterly forgettable Pokemon into an attacker that can make Slaking envious and match muscles with Kyurem-Black. That's a lot of power residing in the Poke Ball. It is lacking in defenses and speed, but it feels a lot less punishing than other big brute force attackers.AzumarillMore power ability goodness, this time with Azumarill. With Huge Power, those Waterfalls hurt big time, and it has solid defensive presence to supplement its immense power. It is quite slow, so that's a bit of a turn off for some, but Azumarill redefines "bulky attacker'.TentacruelA gen 1 'mon that many are conditioned to avoid due to how common Tentacool are when surfing, Tentacruel proves that commonplace does not equate to bad. Tentacruel has magnificient special bulk that allows it to shrug off many a special attack, plus a solid speed to supplement its offensive presence.EndSome of these Pokemon might not be that unpopular for playthroughs, but I'm pretty confident in saying that these are definitely not your stereotypical generic choices for Sinnoh playthroughs. That doesn't mean they're bad. If you're looking to spice up your team composition, give these Pokemon a fair shake and see if it works. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/3wfZstP
