"How do you decide which version to get?"

Is it the legendary? Is it the exclusives? Is it purely sentimental? Heck, is it just the box art? What version do you choose each generation?I got Shining Pearl, and I noticed Brilliant Diamond has more sales than Pearl so I couldn't help but wonder how the version affects the sales and how consumer preference might shape that discrepancy. I notice how popular some versions are compared to others. Blue seems to draw more than Red, Diamond draws more than Pearl, Sword draws more than Shield.
