In generation IV they added gender differences for Pokémon. At the time they probably didn't want to mess with National Dex order, which I understand. But now they obviously don't care about the National Dex anymore so it's just weird having them be different species when nominally they're just different genders of the same species. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/3fwNLbi
