"The original anime has its faults, but there’s something so charming about its approach that holds to this day"
True, ash barely wins any of his badges, fails utterly at the league and the anime ignores most of the plot points of kanto, I could go on and on about its faults, but there’s such a large amount of charm that a lot of the future adaptations fail to capture. For one, the series wasn’t bogged down by the franchise as a whole, I feel like they had a lot more freedom to approach the writing and it shows, some of my favourite episodes are just slice of life like episodes, the episode where a gastly poses as a ghost, the school of hard knocks which has some amusing dialogue and the secret garden episode all stick out.The soundtrack was amazing, you have the battle themes which are all bangers, viridian city gets a tropical remix that you can easily listen to on a beach, and the one that sticks out the most for me is a track reunion a ost that in my mind encapsulates how I feel about the indigo league anime. Now it’s completely different, I enjoyed the orange islands and some of johto, but even by then it was a completely different show, I’ve watched the first five gens, and a fair amount of gen 6 and 7 too, and there’s been really enjoyable parts, what’s missing though is the episodes where they had no idea what they were doing, I’ll gladly admit a fair amount of nostalgia will be wrapped up in this, and I wouldn’t even call it close to the best because that’s purely subjective, but it will forever be the one I’ll remember forever. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/3foZcC7
