"What do you all think about Gold\Silver\Crystal and their remakes?"

Back in the day I was playing some of that Pokemon MMO (not the 3d one, no), and got engaged in a discussion on the forums as to why Johto wasn't included. The answers could be summed up to:GSC didn't bring anything new to the table, since the MMO uses gen3+ games, which already include most of the features added by GSC (which are gen2);Because nobody likes GSC and Johto in general.This made me wonder: Does the fanbase really dislike GSC that much? I was never a big fan of gen2 myself, but surely it's not all bad? I mean, back when GSC came out, it must have been a pretty big deal: mobile phone, day-night cycle, eggs, friendship evolutions, all that stuff. What's more, GSC is the only direct sequel to a mainline game (not counting B1W1 - B2W2, and maybe some of the later games, though I don't know).I've never beaten GSC, and playing it, I haven't even gotten very far (I do plan on beating it after I finally beat FireRed), but I feel strangely nostalgic for it. From what I've played, it was still pretty fun in its own way. That said, the anime's Johto series were a terrible slog (something that can be said about most of the series following Kanto to be honest).Anyway, what do you guys think of GSC or their next-gen remakes?
