"Is it possible for Pokemon to retcon and lower the level up requirements for many of the super late Unova evolutions?"
You know exactly which Unova mons I'm referring to. Hydreigon, Volcarona, Braviary, Mandibuzz, Bisharp, Mienshao, and I also consider Vanilluxe and Klinklang to be way too high for what they're really worth. (Vanilluxe and Klingklang require level 47 and 49 respectively; comparable to Haxorus who requires level 48, and I consider Haxorus to be much more worth it than either of them). The thing is, these insane level-up evo requirements weren't quite as bad in the Gen 5 games when the unevolved forms of those pokemon were already encountered pretty late and were already decently high leveled in the wild, and thus they went by the mentality that there was no reason for them to evolve at lower levels because you'd never find them at low levels anyways. That being said, aside from Mienshao, Vanilluxe, Klingklang and maybe Bisharp, the rest of the examples mentioned above still have level-up evo requirements that are beyond even the elite four, N and Ghetsis fights, so they'd still only be plausible for post game. But it becomes a much, MUCH bigger problem in later games when they can be encountered at much lower levels, which makes it much much worse, as they stay as their commonly weak unevolved forms for much longer (i.e. Rufflet in the level 10s in Gen 8).B2/W2 did at least do some justice by allowing you to catch Braviary, Mandibuzz and Volcarona as wild static encounters at reasonable points in the game and at reasonable levels. But I'm pretty sure those are the only games where those three are viable options for a playthrough. Any other games where they're in, it's just too much of a hassle to get them to work.Hydreigon's level requirement is way too much for the main story of any pokemon game, with the exception of X/Y where the elite four teams are in the level 60s and, funny enough, Zweilous is catchable in Victory Road in those games at high levels to where you can feasibly get it to Hydreigon, but that'd still literally only be for the elite four assuming you somehow didn't already have a different dragon type you were using beforehand. Is it possible to retcon level requirements to be lower for these pokemon? If not, could that be way GameFreak never did it? It's never been done before, but I think that if it's possible, it should be done to make these certain pokemon actually be viable options for playthroughs.Haxorus is the one weird case as far as Unova evolution requirements go. In retrospect, Haxorus' level requirement of 48 (like I mentioned far above) is surprisingly early for what it's worth as far as Unova mons and their late requirements go. I think it's actually reasonable to need level 48 to get a Haxorus, much more reasonable than the ones also mentioned in this thread. Because of this, I think Haxorus is easily up there as one of the most worthwhile late-game choices for a B/W playthrough, alongside Chandelure. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/vj1Vly2
