"BW are great games, a lot of people recognize that now, but let’s talk about one it’s biggest flaws: The earlygame."

I think a lot of people agree today that BW are amazing games, and many consider to be the best among the entire series. But no game is without flaw, and I do believe one BW’s earlygame. In particular, it’s Pokemon distribution and the first gym. Before the first gym, the are only 3 Pokemon available to catch: Patrat, Purrloin and Lillipup and plus the Elemental Monkey you receive as a gift. That is a ridiculous low number compared to previous games. And you can’t even use the argument that they were trying to bring back that Gen 1 feeling because even the Gen 1 had more variety before the first. So why were there so little Pokemon available? Couldn’t they make Sewaddle or Pidove available on those routes?Another flaw was the first gym. It always used the type that was stronger against your starter. While one could see as a way to teach player about type matchups, the low variety meant you were forced to use the elemental monkey you got as a gift. After all, the biggest fun of Pokémon is building your own team, and here they are, encouraging you to use a specific species for a one specific battle. And yes, while previous games had first gyms that were strong against a certain starter, they also gave a wider variety of wild Pokemon that could handle it, not forcing you to use a specific singular species. It makes me wonder if the early game of BW being flawed is what left a bad first impression on people back when they were first released and that’s one of the reasons they weren’t as liked back then. So, do you guys believe the earlygame of BW is flawed? via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/SJnTZE3
