"In defence of Rhydon"

#PokemonGO: I have picked up a bit of a vibe that Rhydon is getting a bit of a bad rap.So permit me, if I may, to speak in defence.First off, the glaring problem. A double vulnerability to water, in a game where anyone who doesn't have at least 3 vaporeons isn't really trying. And it's true. That is a problem. 156% damage from one of the most common top tier attackers is a major downside. About all I can offer there though, is that most defenders have hard counters, and what you don't have is a damage dealt reduction to water types. And in its favour?A 15 damage quick attack, which gets STAB, and so beats steel wing. And stone edge - an 80 damage special with a short (<1s) warning that's slightly harder to see coming if you are using the hard counter. All this in a package that hits 3000 CP, and has a better stat distribution than a dragonite (less attack focussed).Divide it's CP by the 150% damage it takes, and what you have is a 2000CP defender with a good stats ratio and moves. That gets a 'free' bonus to sitting higher in gyms. And I would call that pretty good, overall. Yeah, ok. It's not a Snorlax or Lapras. But it's still - in my opinion - near the top of the list of things that are worthwhile plonking in gyms. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2gIsxIc
