"Just a quick analysis of the free incubator incident"

#PokemonGO: So, it seems like Niantic ended the free incubator part of the holidays event at 23:00 pm UTC last night. As it startet on Dec 25th at 5:00 pm UTC, that leaves us with a total of 9 days and 6 hours of chances for incubators.Everybody, who avoided for up to 17(!) hours to spin their first stop of the day, would have gotten 10 incubators in that time span. Everybody west of UTC+1 (Middle Europe, Western Europe and so on) who didn't wait on Dec 25th ended with 9. Those in UTC+2 to UTC+6 had a chance to get their 10th incubator yesterday and if they waited to spin on the 25th, they even got their 11th incubator. That said, some folks sit on 9 free incubators while others had a chance to get 11. Thats free stuff, so nothing to care about, right? Right?Worst case for the lucky guys is, you hatched 2 ridiculously common Pokémon that were send immediately to the prof: 18-30 Candy and some stardust. On the other side, these 2 one-use-incubators are the equivalent of 100 coins. To get 100 coins, you need to be in 10 gyms. To be in 10 gyms, you have to fight 10 level-10-gyms (worst case). To take down a level-10-gym, you have to fight 49 Pokémon battles (given that you fight one by one, and so don't manage to take all 10 out at once for the full-clear-bonus). That is 490 battles for all 10 gyms (worst case, remember?).Since you are slow (worst case), it takes 1 minute per fight (including healing and picking your team), what means you lost 8 hours and 10 minutes of your lifetime because you couldn't wait for the event to start and happen to live west of UTC+2.Not to mention the 490 potions or revives you need to collect now because you had to fight for the 100 coins. Suppose that a stop give you a potion/ revive every 4th item, you need to spin around 560 stops to refill your stock.TLDR: Long story, short: Being lucky to live in the right place, you got 18-30 Candy and stardust more through that 2 more incubators or saved a ton of lifetime.edit: added some candy that I forgot via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2j7XeL6
