"What if Cosmoem's shiny is all more clever than we thought?"

Okay, this is going to be a long and jargon-heavy thought process, but bear with me here. I also have a couple of lingering questions that might poke a hole in my thinking, but seriously. This might be the sneakiest stroke of genius Game Freak has ever slipped into their games.Cosmoem's normal forme is blue and gold. The blue is the main part of the body. Cosmoem's shiny forme replaces that blue body with a reddish tinted one. Some people complain that it doesn't look all that great, but while I was doing my astronomy homework, it struck me just how fucking genius this thing might actually be.To get it, you might need a little knowledge on the Doppler Effect. You're probably familiar with it from ambulance sirens and how they change in pitch when they're approaching or receding, but the same goes for the light from the stars in space. If a star is approaching Earth, the waves of light coming off of it get "squished together", in a way, which reduces the wavelengths. Because shorter wavelengths appear blue on the visible light spectrum, this makes the star appear more blue. A star going away from Earth, however, is continually "running away" from its own light waves, stretching them out and making it appear redder. This is reflected in Cosmoem! It's based off of a Neutron star (hence its weight and thus density), so this concept would apply perfectly. Normal Cosmoem is blue because it's always approaching, as it's easy to get one in-game, but shiny Cosmoem is always receding away (shiny-locked).This might have been total coincidence, but I like to think that there was an astronomy nerd at Game Freak who knew exactly what they were doing. That brings into question, though, why are Solgaleo and Lunala's shinies also red if the sun and moon aren't affected dramatically by blue/redshift? And Cosmog's shiny, it changes a little (the dots on its cheeks and on its bum turn red), but not as dramatically as Cosmoem's shiny does...since Cosmog is based off of cosmic dust/gas clouds, which form stars, do these dots changing represent starts forming in a galactic cloud (which are redshifted)?Am I just a rambling lunatic who likes space too much? via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2prHgif
