"Gen III's new 50: classifying the Good, the Bad and the Ugly"
#PokemonGO: If you have no idea about Gen 3, I classified the 50 new Pokémon into 3 groups for you based on analysing their movesets and stats. The Good are the useful ones, the Bad are the outclassed ones, and the Ugly are the really terrible ones. I've tried to list the best movesets per type for the useful Pokémon. For the rest of the Pokémon, see the BOTTOM of this post for links.Category A: Go catch these, they will be the most usefulTreecko, Grovyle, Sceptile (Bullet Seed, Leaf Blade) - GREAT GRASS - can rival Exeggutor, selling point is Leaf Blade (70 damage for 33% energy.Mudkip, Marshtomp, Swampert (Mud Shot, Earthquake) - GOOD GROUND type, Mud Shot has high EPSMudkip, Marshtomp, Swampert (Water Gun, Surf) - OUTCLASSED WATER by Vaporeon (Water Gun, Hydro Pump/Aqua Tail)Slakoth, Vigoroth, Slaking (Yawn, Hyper Beam) - GOOD NORMAL type - the best CP but Yawn does no damage like SplashRalts, Kirlia, Gardevoir (Confusion, Dazzling Gleam) - the BEST FAIRY type stats wise and Dazzling Gleam is the bestRalts, Kirlia, Gardevoir (Confusion, Psychic) - OKAY PSYCHIC - less damage than Alakazam / Espeon (Confusion, Future Sight) but Gardevoir is bulkierShroomish, Breloom (Counter, Dynamic Punch) - GREAT FIGHTING glass cannon, highest Attack stat and low bulk.Shroomish, Breloom (Bullet Seed, Seed Bomb) - OKAY GRASS - frail and poor charge move versus Sceptile's Leaf Blade and Exeggutor's Solar BeamMakuhita, Hariyama (Counter, Dynamic Punch) - GOOD FIGHTING - 112% bulk of Machamp (same moves) but only 89% the Attack stat, but generates energy fasterCategory B: You will have better options than theseTorchic, Combusken, Blaziken (Fire Spin, Overheat) - OUTCLASSED FIRE type by Moltres/Entei/Flareon with same movesetTorchic, Combusken, Blaziken (Counter, Overheat) - OUTCLASSED - better than Flareon/Ho-Oh against pure Ice Regice, but still worse than Entei/MoltresSeedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry (Razor Leaf, Leaf Blade) - OUTCLASSED GRASS type by Victreebel, which is inferior to Sceptile/ExeggutorSeedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry (Feint Attack, Foul Play) - OUTCLASSED DARK type by Houndoom, which is inferior to TyranitarElectrike, Manectric (Charge Beam, Wild Charge) - OUTCLASSED ELECTRIC by Jolteon (Thunder Shock, Thunder Bolt) and also Zapdos/RaikouAbsol (Snarl, Dark Pulse) - OKAY DARK type - in a vacuum, Absol deals out more damage per second than Tyranitar. The problem is that Absol is really frail - 36% of Tyranitar's bulk - that means that it's frequently fainting with wasted energy - leading to a team of Tyranitars (or even Houndooms) outspeeding a team of Absols in raids (vs Mewtwo, vs Alakazam, vs Gengar). Thank you Pokebattler and u/celandro for the calculations.Category C: Pokedex entry only, these aren't good at all or are super outclassedPoochyena, Mightyena - FAIL DARK - lousy Houndoom/Absol/TyranitarZigzagoon, Linoone - FAIL NORMAL - lousy FurretWurmple, Silcoon, Beautifly - FAIL BUG - lousy Scyther/Scizor/PinsirWurmple, Cascoon, Dustox - FAIL BUG - lousy Scyther/Scizor/Pinsir (Bug)Skitty, Delcatty - FAIL NORMAL - lousy stats. Non STAB moves.Mawile - FAIL STEEL/FAIRY - lousy stats - use Scizor (Steel) or Gardevoir (Fairy)Meditite, Medicham - FAIL FIGHTING/PSYCHIC - lousy stats poorer than Machoke. Use Breloom Machamp/Hariyama (Fighting) or Alakazam/Espeon (Psychic)Plusle and Minun - FAIL ELECTRIC. Lousy Electrode/Jolteon/Raikou/Zapdos (Electric)Gulpin, Swalot - OUTCLASSED POISON type by Muk (Poison), no STAB Poison fast moveSpoink, Grumpig - OUTCLASSED PSYCHIC type by Slowbro/king for a bulky Psychic, charge moves Psychic and Mirror Coat are not the bestZangoose - OUTCLASSED NORMAL type by Ursaring. No STAB Normal moves at allSeviper - OUTCLASSED POISON type by Victreebel/Muk/Gengar (Poison), charge move Poison Fang is badWynaut - babyAzurill - babyRoselia - EVOLVES in Gen 4 so stock candy but for actual moves... (Razor Leaf, Petal Blizzard) - FAIL GRASS - lousy Venusaur/Exeggutor/Sceptile (Grass) and FAIL POISON (Poison Jab, Sludge Bomb) is a lousy Muk/Gengar/Victreebel (Poison)For Gen 1/2 Pokémon see this linkFor unreleased Gen 1/2/3 Pokémon see this link via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2kCzy3o
